Our services are in line with – and adhere to – the National minimum care standards, Care Quality Commission and the Every Child Matters (ECM) Framework. SAFSS also has it’s own set of policies and procedures which all staff have to work to ensure safe working practices.
SAFSS Staff and Training
All our staff are qualified to a minimum NVQ Level 2 in Care and staff have also undertaken therapeutic massage training and are trained on different disabilities and conditions.
To ensure effective communication staff are also trained in Makaton.
SAFSS holds a two-day induction for new staff and they complete a workbook on the principles of care.
SAFSS also runs a programme of 12 modules of Core Training which all staff must complete. This is renewed on a regular basis.
All staff complete shadowing sessions to get to know the service users and families that they will be working with. This is led by an experienced worker; shadowing also takes place at a service user’s school.
Multi agency working is central to the service we provide. SAFSS works closely with the local special schools and social services to ensure continuity and transparency of service.
SAFSS prides itself on providing a quality care service that can meet the needs of South Asian families in Sandwell and Birmingham.
