Good luck Sanjiv!

We have nominated Sanjiv Verma, our volunteer and Board Member, to be a torchbearer for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Sanjiv is an inspiration to us all here at SAFSS and we have nominated him for his commitment to volunteering in Sandwell. Sanjiv has volunteered for SAFSS for almost 20 years and also volunteers at the local CAB and Ideal for All. Sanjiv makes an enormous contribution to the local community and we believe that he fits the two torchbearer themes of ‘always being the best they can be’ and ‘making a real difference to the community’. It really is Sanjiv’s time to shine and to recognise the commitment he has to his community.

Shortlisting commences on the 8th August 2011, with final decisions being made in December 2011. We are keeping everythign crossed for you Sanjiv!

Winter Celebration Raffle

A big thank you to everyone who supoprted our Winter Celebration Raffle. We managed to raise over £50 towards the cost of our Winter Celebration Party. The raffle was drawn on Monday 20th December by Claire Bradshaw and Amar Hussain and the winning tickets are as follows:

There’s snow stopping SAFSS!

Snow outside our premises in Fenton St, Smethwick on 18 December 2010.

Winter conditions did not stop the SAFSS Winter Celebration Party on Saturday 18th December. The event, supported by Irwin Mitchell, went ahead despite the terrible snow. Food, dancing and fun was had by all and our thanks to Irwin Mitchell and all our staff and volunteers who helped the event.

SAFSS AGM took place on Thursday 10th December. Attendance was once again very good and several of our families came to support the event. The Board presented the annual accounts and annual review for the financial year 2009-10. Copies of these documents will be available on-line in due course.

Daytrip to Blackpool

This year SAFSS annual day trip will be to Blackpool Pleasure Beach on Thursday 29th July 2010. All SAFSS families and staff are invited to attend.

Any child or adult who uses our services can attend the daytrip free of charge and can also bring a main carer who is free of charge. For any additional seats SAFSS are charging a flat rate of £7.00.

SAFSS awarded PQASSO Level 3

SAFSS have been awarded the PQASSO Quality Mark at Level 3. The PQASSO (Practical Quality Assurance System for Small Organisations) Quality Mark, highlights SAFSS’ commitment to efficiency, effectiveness and quality. The Mark was set up by the Charities Evaluation Service (CES) and enables the voluntary and community sector to assess performance.
